Namelaka Patisserie, where desserts looks like fruits
Namelaka Patisserie is a small cafe hidden on the second floor in the Bangsar, the cafe area of KL. Namelaka means creamy texture in Japanese and after this visit I think the cakes do live up to the cafe’s name. The main reason why I knew about this place was because I was attracted to their desserts after seeing them on Instagram.
The cakes here look like real fruit and it’s hard to believe they are actually cakes until you cut them open. I was also told they don’t add sugar and get the sweetness from the white chocolate cream and the fruit inside.
They only have 5 flavours which are pear, orange, lemon, passionfruit and apple. They looked so good that I had a hard time choosing what to get.
The first cake we ate was the apple. I picked this because apple is one of my favourite fruits and dessert flavours.
The flavours was quite subtle but the textures were great with the crispy outer shell and the creamy layer with the crunchy fruits at the core.
What we tried next was the lemon, one of their best sellers.
The lemon’s flavours are really strong so we were told to eat this after the apple. This was rather sour but so refreshing. It has mint in it too! We really enjoyed this.
After the two cakes, we were actually done but I still wanted the pear so I got that next. This is also one of their bestsellers!
I was so glad I got it because I really liked it. The textures were good and the pear flavour was so fragrant! I would say this was my favourite flavour too.
What made dining here more pleasant was the cafe’s simple interior, with it being spacious plus the service here was great too!
We were glad we paid a visit to this cafe and I would like to return in the future to try out more desserts. The staff also mentioned that they were going to try out creating more desserts with different flavours and that sounds exciting too!
