Nabana no Sato's Winter Illumination
Nabana no Sato is a botanic park which is part of Nagashima Resort. It is famous for its winter illuminations which last for about half a year. It’s a park in the day where people can admire the flowers and it transforms as the sun sets with the displays lighting up.
There’s a direct bus to Nabana no Sato from Nagoya Station which costs 890yen per trip. We got return tickets here and the journey takes about 30 minutes. You can also take the train to Nagashima station or Kintetsu Nagashima station and then switch to take a bus after that.

An adult ticket costs ¥2,300 each and it includes ¥1,000 of coupons to spend in the park.
I was elated to see these orange trees and started taking pictures of them. The light show started at 5pm so we walked around and took pictures for a bit.
Coming here in the late afternoon allows you to explore for a bit while the sun sets. The light ups for these parts change according to the seasons. They have cherry blossom, plum blossom and tulip illuminations as well.
The light show begins according to the sunset times so it’s good to check the website before planning your trip there.
This is the first installation you see on the route, it’s called the River of Light.
This is called the brilliant road, one of the most iconic installations.
Each light is actually a flower.
The Mount Fuji installation is a light show that loops throughout the night. You get to see Mount Fuji and its surroundings changing over time and through seasons too.
This is called lavender. Maybe it would help if you leave the Mount Fuji show halfway because once everyone leaves at once, this is what you get.
You get to see the flower petals hung around the lights while walking through it.
This is called the light of the sea of clouds (when directly translated).
These are the twin trees.
There’s also a foot onsen here for you to soak your tired feet into nearby too.
Japan is famous for its winter illuminations and this was one of the more impressive ones I’ve seen so far. If you would like to plan your trip here, the website is very helpful in giving you information on when the illuminations start, when it’s more crowded and what dates the winter illumination will be available on.
