Savourworld Food Tour

I was recently invited by Burpple for their food tour at Savourworld and it was quite an enjoyable experience! This post is a combination of the tour and my visits to Savourworld, enjoy!

Savourworld is a new area near Kent Ridge MRT that was developed to contain many eateries! They have a variety of cuisines and food to suit a variety of budgets too. Well known food places here include Cha Tra Mue (the famous Thai tea), Garçons (affordable French food) and Wildfire burgers (their fried chicken burgers look amazing). I kept telling my friends if only this was opened during my NUS days, I would have been so happy!

Tokyo Joe

tokyo joe bara chirashi don

This is the premium bara chirashi don ($22), it has salmon, yellowtail, tuna, fish roe and egg. It’s very fresh and tasted pleasant but I feel that there are so many bara chirashi dons in Singapore lately and this doesn’t exactly stand out in terms of taste and price.

tokyo joe truffle gyudon

Next we had the truffle gyu don ($22). The beef was tender and sweet but what was sad about this was that the truffle smell and taste was absent while I was snapping pictures and eating it! So I guess it’s nice gyu don (without truffle) hahaha

tokyo joe chicken udon

This is their new item that wasn't on the menu yet, sous vide chicken udon. I liked this the most because this stands out and is more unique than the others I’ve tried. The chicken was tender and tasty (super not dry) and the udon was chewy and really smooth! The soup was slightly sweet and tasted really comforting as well. I will probably eat this again 😋

Overall I think this place has reasonably good food, it doesn't exactly stand out but it's nice to visit if you're in the area!

Licktionary

licktionary ice cream

The ice cream prices here are quite affordable and the ice cream has no eggs, preservatives and colouring! The new flavour of the week comes out on Saturdays and the ice cream is made during the weekend so you get more choices if you visit in the beginning of the week!

licktionary ice cream

When we came on a Friday night, there were many empty tubs and there weren’t many flavours left! Good thing the more popular flavours were still available and we still got to try quite a bit

licktionary ice cream

The flavours are Kampung (pandan and gula melaka), naughty (chocolate with marshmallows and ginger snaps) and summer (strawberries with lemon). I thought kampung stood out the most because the gula melaka was really so fragrant!

The ice cream tasted natural and they were really smooth. I probably wouldn’t have known it doesn’t have egg if I didn’t come for this food tour! I’ll definitely come back again for more, seats are limited though but Savourworld has a very spacious courtyard so you can have it there! This is the place I knew I would definitely frequent if I was still in NUS now.

I came back here with another friend to try other flavours so here's Happy (Horlicks and Orange) and Kampung. I really like the horlicks and orange combination, even though it seemed like an unlikely one. Both the horlicks and orange flavours were fragrant as well.

Ottoman Kebab and Grill

ottoman kebab and grill

The moment I stepped in, I was hit with the fragrance of grilled meat. This is the Doner chicken sandwich ($8.90), grilled Turkish meat in between pita bread. This was really flavourful and the chilli was both sweet and slightly spicy at the same time!

ottoman kebab and grill

This is iskender lamb ($18.90), grilled lamb served on top of crispy croutons with tomato sauce and yogurt! The croutons were surprisingly crispy even with all the sauce slathered on top hahah. The lamb was flavourful and fragrant too, well complemented by the yogurt!

ottoman kebab and grill

This was the highlight, the Ottoman Shish Platter ($49)! It is a combination of chicken, beef, lamb, meatballs and seafood with grilled tomatoes, salad and pilaf. This is my kind of thing because I really love meat. This platter comes with 2 servings of butter rice too, so it’s quite a feast indeed!

Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus

Chinese noodle bar blue lotus

Drunken chicken ($9)! The chicken is marinated overnight with the wine that is in this picture haha. I liked the texture of this but the wine taste was too strong for me!

Chinese noodle bar blue lotus

Truffle noodles with crispy pork lard ($12). The truffle was so fragrant that I could smell it from rather far away. The pork lard was really crispy and light. They all went well with the springy noodles too.

Chinese noodle bar blue lotus

This is their signature chilli crab xiaolongbao ($9). This was a lot more spicy than I expected and I couldn’t really taste the chilli crab much. I would think this is interesting to have but I prefer my xiaolongbao in original or cheese flavours.

Indochili

indochili

This is the tumpeng mini ($12.50), which is rice made of tumeric, achar, keropok, perkedel and chicken! The rice is very fragrant and the achar was appetising too! I really enjoyed this.

indochili

This is the satay ayam madura ($9.80), chicken satay with thick and rich peanut sauce!

indochili

Tauhu telor ($8.80), there is beancurd and omelette with peanut sauce and prawn crackers. This was really good because the fried egg parts were really crispy!

Indochili has other outlets available near Great World City and at Tanjong Pagar Centre if you're interested to try them too.

Coffee Break

coffee break

This wasn't part of the food tour, this was from another visit on my own to Savourworld! I've always wanted to try Coffee Break but the outlets at Amoy and GSH were always so crowded so I visited this one instead.

coffee break

Pandan gula melaka toast ($3.30)! This was quite good but I would have preferred a richer flavour! The bread wasn't as crispy as what I expected it to be too.

coffee break

Egg paprika toast ($4.30)! This has a rather unique taste and I liked this too! Similarly, I would have liked it with more filling and flavour as well.

coffee break

Pistachio latte ($4.80), I could taste both the coffee and pistachio in this and I enjoyed the flavours quite a bit.
